3D Paper Apples

I forgot to bookmark the original source for this next project but fortunately there are plenty of other websites of the same project-with slight variations. This one for example:

To create the paper apples:

-paper (card stock, old magazines, newspaper/Sunday comics, greeting cards, gift wrapping paper, etc.)
-scissors
-glue (We used a glue stick but I read on one particular website that the crafter tested Glue Dots™  and with very good results.)
-pencil, for tracing
-apple stencil (You can find apple templates/stencils *online free of charge. Or, if you have
an apple cookie cutter it can be traced on paper.)

Glass Gitter Magnets

We've brav'd tropical storms,  scurvy, malaria, school shoe shopping, mediocre summer movie theatre selections (save for Shaun the Sheep!) and humid conditions typical of  l'été but we've returned to port for more action-packed adventures on the crafty seas! GLITTER GLASS MAGNETS


  To make these you will need:

-Flat glass gems (Available from any craft store, Dollar Tree and most retailers such as Walmart or Target. It's important to buy the clear glass gems and not frosted or "pearlized".)
-Paintbrushes
-School glue, clear
-Glitter in assorted colors
-Mod Podge™ or Krylon™ adhesive spray (clear) for sealing
-E6000™ or any similar strong glue 
-face mask (those dreadful E6000 fumes!)
-Small round magnets, 1/2"/12.7mm
-wire rack to dry the glass gems
-Baby wipes for cleanup!

See full instructions at the ^^link above for this project. I would suggest laying out a piece of waxed paper on a protected surface and lightly sprinkling the glitter on the gems instead of the method indicated in the original instructions. Any leftover glitter goes into a small container I keep on hand labeled: Mixed Color Glitter Depository. Reminder: the glue and glitter are applied to the FLAT side of the gem. 

To convert these glittery "gems" to necklaces, refer to the link above. 

Also, don't fret if some of the school glue and glitter end up on the front of the gem. It can be removed however, with a damp cloth or nail polish remover for more stubborn glue.

Lastly, this project should be done in two parts: the first day for applying the clear glue and glitter and allowing to dry. The second day applying the E6000 strong glue and magnets and again allowing to dry. 

Cost: $5.00  (I was out of E6000, glass gems, etc. These purchased craft items will be used in future projects.)
