Snowdrop Painting

A wonderful book we enjoy reading during our brief but precious downtime on board is 'Here Comes Jack Frost' by Kazuno Kohara. Last fall the Ebony Oyster crew planted snowdrop/galanthus flowers for the specific purpose of painting them. This one bloomed only within the last two days. We've had to shield the tender bud from the harsh tropical sun.

This is junior crew member Effervescent Ethel's snowdrop painting as inspired by the book and also Google images.

Need:

-white paint
-green paint (we mixed some white paint in with the green to get a color as close to the natural green hue of snowdrop leaves)
-small paintbrushes
-paper
-salt or white sugar (for the snow effect)  <<---optional   Effervescent Ethel painted a swatchbuckle swatch of white paint then sprinkled salt on top of the still wet paint for the snow effect.
